Transforming Children’s Health in Northwest Arkansas
Because of your leadership and generosity, more than 230,000 children in northwest Arkansas now have access to expert pediatric care close to home at Arkansas Children’s Northwest (ACNW).
When ACNW opened in 2018, it fulfilled a promise to families across the region: children would no longer need to travel hours for specialized care. Today, the region’s first and only children’s hospital includes a pediatric emergency department, a 25-bed inpatient unit, surgical services and a wide range of outpatient specialties, all designed specifically for children.
Located on a beautiful 37-acre campus in Springdale, ACNW provides expert pediatric care in a kid-savvy environment. Children and their families discover delightful details on floors, ceilings and walls — colorful birds reside in a trio of tree sculptures in the hospital lobby, and other wildlife, like foxes, dragonflies and bumblebees, can be found on every level of the hospital.
Building for What’s Next
Northwest Arkansas is one of the fastest-growing regions in the country, and with that growth comes increasing demand for pediatric care. To meet the needs of today’s children and tomorrow’s families, ACNW is expanding.
This next phase of growth strengthens our ability to care for more local children with greater complexity:
- Expanded Inpatient Capacity – Increasing from 25 to 40 inpatient beds to support growing demand in northwest Arkansas.
- Smarter Clinical Spaces – Redesigning and expanding lab, pharmacy, and sterile processing for better efficiency and future growth.
- Higher Acuity, Local Care – Building bigger spaces and growing programs to treat more complex conditions, reducing the need for transfers.
- Improved Access to Outpatient Services – Relocating the lab draw area to the main entry for easier access and a better patient experience.
- Expanded Ambulatory Surgery – Adding an endoscopy suite for GI services, growing infusion spaces and adding more operating rooms.
